If everyone could email me their contact info: Name, address, email. I'll try to get with Ben and see what all needs to be done. I don't know if he needs it all in one lump payment or not. I'm trying to see if he can let us all do individual orders to save on the hassle of payment changing hands too many times. I'll keep you all posted.

I'll be #10.

Didn't see anything about payment or shipping info.  How's that going to work with the group buy?

Not sure if my email is visible in my profile but you can use my screen name @gmail

I have an email from Becky at Minivation that I'm holding off responding to to order a set. Come on guys, just one more! LOL

They have one set left, so I'm going to wait and not mess this buy up. They will be getting more in the 1st week of Nov. I'm not in a hurry, but someone else needs to jump in on this!

I'm on the same path as you. I have removed my hood more times than I care to say, and not only do you have to worry about scratching while taking it off, but then finding a place to put it, etc. Why not just poen your hood ~ 90°?

Just thought I'd check before ordering a set. I can't see taking the hood off to be a better alternative to having it open a bit further. Thanks for trying.

I never got enough interest in these. A lot of maybes, a lot of people whining that they were too complicated and they prefer the old hinges (which is what I specifically said I don't want to hear), and then a couple people backed out. This is why I hate setting up group buys.

I'm still buying my Version 2.5 set when the time comes for me. If anyone else wants to set up a group buy, feel free. I posted on 4 different sites and it was just a bunch of headache.

You can buy them yourself if you wish: //minivation.net/version-2-1-hinges-on-sale/

We have a limited number of version 2.1 hinges for sale @ 45+ VAT

This is the last of our stock before Version 2.5 arrives. The main differences between version 2.1 and 2.5 are the opening angle and mounting holes. The remaining stock do have the set screw installed to remove the movement in the system due the build tolerances

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

And potentially even cheaper if we have more than 10 people in on the buy.

Here's the hinges, and a comparison of the original hinges vs the new hinges.

Just trying to get a rough idea of who will be interested in a group buy. Post on here if you are interested. And I don't mean "well... I might possibly maybe be interested". I mean, You should be able to say "Yes, I'll buy one if it's available at a good price." haha

Any update on this?

Way back, George Sykes ( a founding partner of Seven Ent. ) designed and built several sets of quick release hinges. They were dead simple open the bonnet pull forward and it's in your hands , slide back in place close and secure. Other than a mental one I have no pictures. Bare in mind this was in the late 60s. When I get a sec I think I'll try and build a set from memory. Steve (CTR)

Yup, half a page in a diary entry on page 65.  Not really much more to it than a visualisation of the fitting instructions posted earlier, but it does have a decent (if small) photo of the hinge side-on in the open and closed positions.
Very clever geometry of the hinge points which raises, tilts and moves the rear corners forwards to clear everything.

They do, and "Articulated" is the right word, Mal! Unfortunately, my digital subscription (or maybe I don't have the knack of this Mac yet) defys copying and pasting the article that Joe cites, or posting a link.

Remove bonnet, put hinges in the down position.

Drill holes horizontally into the top edge of the inner wings, using the stock hinge captive threaded studs as location guides. Remove the stock hinges. The new hinges bolt to the newly drilled holes in the wing and thence the bonnet to them.
