My wife's 2004 Mini S died on her the other day while driving all the warning lights came on and then bam it shutdown on the road. She tried to restart it with no luck at all. After we towed it home no warning lights other than the normal pre-start are on and the computer did not store any codes.
The block has 194K miles the head was replaced 80K ago and head gasket.
Things I have Checked:
Could the motor suddenly have given up with that low compression or could I be looking at something more problematic such as a timing belt failure that and the cam is not holding valves closed?
I am tearing into the engine this week to see but I would like any advise before I get started.
thanks!

Things I have Checked:
- 1. Fuel Pump is working and fuel filter is not clogged.
- 2. Fuel PSI is 55
- 3. Coil and plugs are good producing proper voltage and spark.
- 4. ECU functioning properly

How did you check compression? A healthy engine should read 122 so the fact that none of the cylinders are not even close makes me think a step has been missed or the TCT completely failed.
The obd2 seriously didn't store any codes?

jfish ... you will probably find more info on your car on the North American Motoring website.
There are LOTS of MINI, BMW, owners over there. Most of the technical skills on this website focus on the "classic" Mini from Austin and Rover.
Good luck!
