I'm Mark's son, it was nice to run across this thread and see folks remembering him. If anyone has photos/stories from the old days please share. Dad's racing career was one of the highlights of his life.

some other MM searching took me back here, reminded me I had not spoken to Mark since 2012.  Google found this:

Sorry to hear of his passing.

I bought my car from him back in the stone age before the Internet, so people just put phone numbers in their ads in magazines.  Called him, got the car details, drove to PA and bought it. He had some paperwork but couldn't find the title, but so what I didn't care because it was just a racecar, its just a Mini, and I was a newbie racer. Twenty five years later I decided you know what, I should have got that title, so what the heck I dug around on the net and found his contact info. Called him, had a nice chat. Did you ever find that title? Nope. Oh well. So I have a for-real 67 Cooper S which is not too hacked-up bodywise, but I have no supporting documents except the receipt.  My bad.  But anyway, he is still in that area of the country, that might be him at the hillclimbs.

Jagwrjack, we probably never met, I am in Florida.  I never ran the Mini further north than Savannah back then.  In the 2000s I have gone as far as Barber.  Bet you wish you had kept that Titan, except for those weekends when the weather stewards decided to make it rain.

I think he's still around. I see a car that looks like that at the vintage hillclimbs.

Your screen name picture is what led me to believe that Myers was on here. Small world this mini world. Never knew Alex Miller was a mini guy. Only remember his sports racer, especially at the Pagoda hillclimb. Below is my Titan 6c at my first regional in 76' at summit point when I took the picture of the mini. Hell, we might have even known each other back then

Mark was an importer/distributor of woven floor mats in those days.  He had an SCCA C-Sedan painted in those colors.   I think Mark was racing Regionals, not Nationals, at the time.  Then in 76 or 77 he bought Alex Miller's C-Sedan Mini which previously was red with a Union Jack roof,  Alex Miller had moved on to DSR running a Suzuki water buffalo powered Ocelot, if I remember correctly.  The Mini that Mark bought had been a Nationally competitive C-Sedan in the hands of Miller.  Mark painted it black with a side stripe to look like his old Mini, took it to a couple of races and used it just to beat the Mini guys who used to beat him all the time,  then he was done with it and put it up for sale.  I bought it in 78.  I still have the car.  After collecting the car from Mr. Myers, we drove over to meet Mr. Miller and learn about the car's history, and he did mention a crash which occurred at Summit Point on a test day.  I don't know if Mark ever ran the car at Summit. But I do think the car in your picture is probably my car, not Mark's other car.  I have Mark's contact info somewhere if you want me to look for it, let me know.

Edit.  The trunk lid on the car in your pic has the 90 straight up and down.  My car had the 90 painted on at an angle, over on the upper left corner of the trunk lid.  In the middle of the license plate recess was painted "Motor Mat", that was the name of Mark's mat company.

I got the trailer with the car, it was a very industrial type steel single-axle trailer, built for a longer car and then shortened for the Mini. That might be the trailer in your second pic but I can't tell.

Ron, you beat me to it!

I knew Steve McQueen, some of the Beatles, Peter Sellers and James Garner drove them, but wasn't aware of Mike Myers, except the MINI in the Austin Powers flick.

"I drive a Mini. What are you compensating for?"
