Well, its definitely a big bore (1275 derivative).. obvious from the gap between cyls 2 and 3... Now only have to look at back of the block to see if there are bolt on covers..  If so = S.

Cheers, Ian

might it be an S or GT block?  extra holes for studs but head is not drilled. Maybe a replacement head?
I guess we'll get a better idea when he pulls it and we can see the back.

Likely a little off on both of the measurements. There were no 1300cc engines. There were those called 1300s, but they all were 1275cc engines, and no common overbore or stroke would get a 1275cc to 1300cc -- close at 1293ccs for a +20 overbore.

Hello Again

We are making some progress on our new project. Have also spoken to 2nd to previous owner and determined that the car was bought in Egypt while in military. It came from a dealer in Cairo in who knows when, and probably not much chance of finding out anything from them now.

Step 2; Cleared out old gas, got wires figured and got it running. that was great. Purrs nicely. Having established that we took it for a short drive and then started stripping it and getting motor ready to pull. The car will get stripped and sandblasted this summer.

Step 3: we pulled the head off the motor to a) lighten it to make it easier to pull, and b) find out what the displacement is. So with a simple measurement of 71mm bore and 82.1mm stroke that makes it a 1300cc. Other visual inspection and referencing of head bolt locations, etc.. seems to point to a 1275 block size.

So the question I have now is; if/what/when/where did the 1300 come from? Is this a bored out 1275, or is 1300 an original motor size?

Thanks in advance!
TJ
