ARP quality stud Kit locates the main bearing caps  more securely than bolts, and puts less stress on the threads in the block. This system was used on the Cooper S bottom end, and this stud and nut kit does the same for 1300 & A-Plus blocks. From ARP, includes 6 each studs, nuts & washers.
See our part# L99 for ARP Lube.<p>

Notes: This kit is NOT interchangeable with the studs used on the 1275 Cooper S blocks!  The locating dowels are diferent sizes, and the Cooper S main caps are 'shorter' so the studs clear the transmission case.   The A and A+ blocks all use bolts with no washers and you should expect that you will have to create some clearance for the front and rear caps where these studs WILL contact the transmission case!   It is highly recommended that the block and caps be line-bored when ANY modifications or machining is done to the caps, including changing from bolts to studs.

Question:
Can you tell me the torque setting for these studs please?
Answer:
With the ARP lube it's 50 foot lbs, without 55. If an 11-stud head, the bolt nearest the thermostat housing should only be 45 lbs. After the engine is run for the first time you'll want to re-torque the head especially if an aluminum head.

Fastener Retention Overview There are three methods that can be employed to determine how much tension is exerted on a fastener; using a torque wrench, measuring the amount of stretch, and turning the fastener a pre-determined amount (torque angle). Of these methods, use of a stretch gauge is the most accurate.
