Replacing the door latch / actuator 'may' fix the problem. That is one of the potential causes....

Thank you so much for your input.
My bother said he could replace the door actuator for me.   It sounds like that may not fix the problem then, though.

So it sounds like I should just take it in then to the dealership for the diagnosis?

It sounds like most of the symptoms are caused by the car's computer thinking that the door is not completely closed. Since the door latch is reacting from the key fob command, it has at least partial functionality.

It may be one of the following:

Door latch / actuator is not sending out the 'door closed' signal. (defective unit)
Computer is not receiving the door closed signal (connection / ground issue)
Body Control Module is not correctly interpreting the door closed signal. (software issue)

And then again, it may be something else - it is very difficult to accurately diagnose an issue remotely ....

2007 Mini Cooper S - have a warning indicator that the driver's door is not closed. It appears closed and flush with outside, but it will not lock with the comfort access or with the key fob (but will lock if I use the key manually). Also, the driver's side window won't roll up all the way as it does when the door is completely closed. They work fine on the passenger side. I can hear the doors trying to lock when I hit lock on the key fob...
Any ideas for the problem? Would that be the door lock actuator? Or another easier thing to check before I get checked at dealership ($$)?

Someone closed the door differently - slowly (and pushed it), after that, had these issues.

My first post - apologize in advance if already answered (didn't find) or posted in the wrong place.
Appreciate any help!
