Electric conversions of classic cars are awesome! I met a guy who converted a 1949 Porsche (a Boxter, I think?) to electric last year. Every nook and cranny in the body is crammed full of old lead acid batteries,

Lets not forget Ronnie Reagan's shock and dismay when told that photosynthesis reverses.

Which lead to his famous quote (reported on the front page of the Washington Post) "You mean to tell me that trees pollute!!"

Cheers, Ian

Lol. This needs to be on a shirt,...and brought to all the powers that are making EVs mandatory.

.
Simple recipe for Excitement:  Take 1 Classic Mini. Throw in 1590cc's of engine. Add 5 gears. A dash of 94 octane. A sprinkle of style inside and out. Toss in 1 MadMan and finally heat tires and pavement to taste. Recipe produces 1 Mini VTEC conversion and full satisfaction. Motor on!

Beware if you're in the UK.

Its very difficult to get these conversions correctly / legally registered for the public roads.

The DVLA are being VERY awkward.

Many of the conversions on the (several) TV shows are still registered as petrol powered.

I'd like to get this Mini to market ideally before the end of the year, but it is also going to be in 3 magazines as well this fall, so I'd like for it to make its rounds first. As far as taking one on over the winter I don't for see any issues.

Thanks for the update, John! Glad to hear you are so busy. Congrats on the move to larger quarters which happen to be closer to me. Two questions: When will the prototype be up for sale, and will you have the time/space to do another e conversion over this winter?

Sorry guys, yes been very busy as always. Designing new Mini products, and circling back to the Electric. My partner has been taking the car to Cars and Coffee locally, putting miles on it, driving it alot throughout the week. We have arranged to do a top speed test hopefully over the next few weeks, and then start gathering the range data. As of right now mechanically it works great, very strong, just a few things we need to iron out with the BMS, and software with the manufacturer. I will def keep you guys up to date. Business has been happily booming, we are almost at 100 Honda Conversions Kits sold, and we have 6 conversions in the que. That and we may have some exciting news with relocating to a much bigger space north... in PA. So stay tuned, sorry been quite, only so many hours in the day.

Crickets....either John is super busy as usual and doesn't have the time to update the stats on his prototype, or the numbers aren't that impressive after all. I'm curious which is the case.

I've recently seen a discovery network "MotorTrend Channel" program where a group in ?Ireland/?Scotland?/Wales does many different cars with E mods. They've done a Classic Mini.

Here is a pic from the Mini 63 where it made its debut with 60 miles under its belt. Learned a bunch, received some good feedback thus far.

Martin, the honda 5 speed is to shift it just like a normal petrol engine with a trans. It keeps the motor in a better efficiency range, and allows for a much much higher top speed in simple terms. That and... well we wanted to make it a manual!

Breathtaking work, I really love it.
What operation does the gear stick/shifter perform?
Loving this project!

Couple photos to update this. Motor bay 99% done other then possibly fabricating some inner fenders. Took her for her first test drive yesterday, she absolutely pulls! Working with tweaking the parameters of the software right now and fine tuning. Getting really close.
