Thanks for the replies, I'm having a tough time figuring out this build. My 64 1071 S was involved in a bad wreck ending up with a badly damaged shell. I have had no luck getting it repaired. I have picked up a 66 998 Cooper shell that can be repaired. Very nice doors, boot and bonnet. A full color change from Tartan Red to ??? LHD/RHD? Fully adjustable suspension, S brakes ten inch wheels and tires. I have a 998 D crown Cooper engine and a 1071 Cooper S unit spare to my 64 project. I have several sets of S/GT close ration gear sets for remote 1128. I'd kind of like something in a dove gray with biscuit interior. LHD Snow berry lid. I don't think I have been to Dayton for a mini meet since the mid 70s. I haven't sold a personal mini in over 20 years. If someone is interested in 66 dry suspension 1071 powered classic contact me now waiting for a paint code. Steve (CTR)

Doors boot and bonnet off to the body shop with shell to follow as soon as I arrange a fork lift to get it off the top shelf. The 1071 project that is. I have to arrange sheet metal from Leo Jack for the UK Moke project. Steve (CTR)

Back around 2000 I bought a new MK3/4 shell and built a car posting daily updates and my friend Billy Backstay posting pictures. It was a lot of fun and while the end was never seen here it did happen. My plan was to build the car and put it away for Alex my son also a 2000 new addition to the family. Things happen and when completed I bolted in a child's seat and started a 176,000 mile journey. A busted bypass hose killed the first engine a 998 with stage one kit. The 1000E speedo pod no gauges 20 degree day. Replace with a 1360 Cooper S engine and wide ratio gears and two O/D drops and 2.76 CWP. Yes 2.56 O/A ratio. 70 MPH at 3000 and 96 at 4000 MK2 three clock pod. I guess it's been a year since it started fouling #1 plug every few days. I parked it and there it is today. Inside safe and protected. Alex rode in that car everywhere we went together till I parked it. He drives a Honda Civic coupe and a Dodge Dakota never driven or ask to drive the mini. I'm considering a fresh paint job repairs to half leather interior suspension and brakes power unit of choice 1360 freshened or the new 998 Cooper build with rod change A+ 3.2.
Alex is starting his third year of college and selling this car would perhaps be the best use of it. I have located a paint and body guy who likes working on minis. Need to strike while the iron is hot. I plan to include one of the VA plates CTR-ALEX. Steve (CTR)
