Just one suggestion... when you install the upper rubber strip, try to compress it lengthwise as much as possible - and make sure to push it tight into the top corners.  The rubber will tend to shrink with heat and age so you want it to start off stuffed as tight as possible into the upper door frame.

Cheers, Ian

PS its a lot easier to mount the glass with the door upside down..  You just have to balance the effort of doing the job with the door attached with that involved in removing the door.

I see you are in CA so hopefully your lower chrome track supports are in ok shape, reuse these as they fit and function much better than the new ones. I also added some masking tape strips across the window opening just to make sure I could not drop the windows out on to the garage floor, when feeding the glass and lower track into the door.

You just need to squeeze the material into the proper shape and push it into the channel space.  Keep in mind the center divider maintaining its  shape and centered in the channel.  I made a wooden tool out a short piece of 1x2 using my table saw to cut a groove in the center to align the center divider properly and help seat the material completely in the door channel.  If you choose to do something similar I would strongly suggest that you round off the corners to avoid damaging the new material.  Good luck and be patient...you can do this.

You have to be very careful getting the channel in the right position so the latches engage the holes properly. I've done it twice. Its not easy.

I have replaced the channels upper and lower. First is to find the 2 screws holding the lower channel about 4 inch from ends. Take your screw driver and run in the channel until you hit metal . Many times these are a bear to get out. once out, the lower channel with glass and chrome strip can be pushed  or pulled out. The ends will need to be pryed up. glass should be in the centered.

Getting the new one in is another story. Takes a lot of time.

Has anyone recently replaced the channels/rubbers for the sliding window on a MK1 Austin Mini and how difficult was it? Maybe you have a procedure, I understand putting the glass back in is a problem.
