Wheel styles are very subjective - 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'....
Going from 19's to 18's can lighten the unsprung weight (if that matters) and can also provide a better ride quality (from the taller sidewalls). Again, it depends on what you are looking for.

I am looking for suggestions about new wheels for a 2017 Clubman S All4. (I am very new to owning a Mini) The car was purchased used and has 19" John Cooper Works wheels with the Bridgestone Potenza tires. The wheels are scraped up a bit, looking like a few curb checks came in (parallel parking issues)
1. Do I stay with the 19" rim or go back to an 18"?
2. What's a good rim to look at, size wise and just overall source? (I see I can get the John Cooper Works rims through the Mini dealer, but at the price of $3,700 for the set, indeed I am looking for a bit of a lower price option)
3. The tires on the car are a 45 sidewall, 225-45-19 size - it looks rather tight on clearance to the fender / wheel well. I'd like to not go the route of a 35 sidewall, just with too many anxiety concerns of shorter sidewall = increase risk of bending a rim with Illinois road (pothole) issues.
Any other thoughts?
