Try North American Motoring. Way more BINI experts there. Really only one here.

Wow!  Thanks for the forwarded post.
Can you tell me which forum this was posted to?
I would like to have a more deeper conversation with the person that posted that.  I am curious about what was being felt while driving with that code.
Thanks

Here is a port on another site from someone that got the same error:

"my scan tool indicated the problem with Solenoid Valve S1, I took a chance and visited a local transmission parts supply store and we were able to match the solenoid up. Replaced the solenoid, refilled with fresh fluid and haven't had any problems since the post. There were actually 2 solenoids with the same numbers in this transmission, before i purchased one I swapped them and test drove the car and the problem went away. After a couple of weeks I went ahead and replaced the defective solenoid just as a safe measure."

Hey, has anyone every had an issue with the R56 Auto Trans only staying in 6th?  The car has almost 80K miles on it.  It wont down shift underload to maintain speed.  I got the S1 Solenoid Code "4E84- EGS Solenoid Valve S1" about 2 months ago.  I had planned on getting the shift solenoid kit to R&R Shift Solenoids 1-6 and the S1 plus the Trans filter.  But this is new.  It's been a little temper-mental for about 2 months after the 4E84 code appeared, but this morning at 2AM on her way home, it did this goofy new thing.  Do these cars just think that we don't have enough challenges keeping them on the road to try something new?  If it wasn't that my daughter loves her car, I would have pushed to get rid of it a long time ago.
Any experience or ideas would be appreciated.  Also, I am looking for the Engine/Transmission lifting and support tool.  If anyone has seen them for sale, let me know where.
Thanks again!
