Looks great, a tip on the gray gaskets, you can surface scrape them with a razor blade to to mostly remove the the brown crud that seems to form from years of sun exposure, then apply a bit of UV protectant.

Kim you could ask on the AusMini website. We used the chrome catches until 64/65 so they're probably easier to find here..
I have a couple of sets (some with the yellow gasket and other with black) but they are by no means NOS.. I agree you have RH (looking forward) units but you're missing the chrome buttons that the retaining screws go into.. The gaskets also have a little shoulder (visible in 66s photo ) that means a piece of flat gasket paper wouldn't really work - although the careful application of some silicon sealant may solve that .... but you do need the correct thickness so the the retaining pin will match the hole in the lower runner...
Cheers, Ian

I know that the early window latches are made of unobtainium. But I am on the hunt. The back story is that I have 2 that I kept when I sold my first '63 mini in 1970 (the latches and the BMC Workshop Manual). They have been in my treasure box (like a sacred t-shirt drawer) for 50 years waiting for a chance to shine. In theory my Morris is an early '63 build (in theory only as it is really a MKI Mongrel mainly a '67 near as I can tell), so metal is 'correct'. I am looking for confirmation that the metal latches are set up like the plastic ones with the buttons all facing aft? I can see from the 2 I have that the front latch is thicker to account for the bypass. Numbers on them are - 7/23474/2 and 7/23470/4. I think I have the right hand side set -confirmation would be appreciated. I know the old track has 'more' holes on it for the metal latches but any reason to change that if I don't care about the extra stop points? (and/or can the new style just be drilled?) Are new style gaskets useable with some trimming or presumably any generic gasket material can be used? Any other gotchas? Looks like UK ebay is the most likely source for a Left side set? I know I am not going to like the price if/when I find them.....

Looking at an IPB (illustrated parts breakdown) shows the catches both chrome and plastic facing aft.

They look like RH side to me. Installation requires the chrome screws and slugs just like the plastic ones. If you are installing the tracks, I found its not that easy to do. You have to get the position of the track in the channel just right so the lock plungers line up with the holes in the channel. I've done it twice. I got one right but the second time was not so good. I had to adjust the thickness of the gaskets on the locks to get the holes and plungers to line up. I used cork for the gaskets. I did see latches recently on Ebay Australia but they're not there when I just looked. Use "Morris Mini" to search, Australia never had Austin versions.
