It says that it fits where the heater pipes go through in the description, that would be so on a RHD car and the same as the answers given.
LHD cars it will need to be mounted to the clutch master cylinder as XRayActual stated and he should know.
Still a pita.

Thanks for the advice.
I think the one I linked to is a little different than the ones discussed in the replies in that it doesn't use existing holes. Below is a pic from the same part on MM for the 1275 LHD engine and it seems to require new bolt holes offset from the mounting holes for brakes/clutch cylinders.
Has anyone tried installing one of these?

I have only ever fitted them to rhd Mini's over the heater hose plate but yes they use the same two bolt holes.
Yes they are a pita to work around most times I just removed the adjustable part to work in that area.
FWIW you would get better results imo from a lower engine steady that fits on the gearbox on the drain plug side.

It looks as if it fits over the master cylinder base, using the existing bolts to secure it. If it was put under the master cylinder, it would likely alter the pedal action.

I have no first-hand experience with that steady but I did some Googling about it a while back. I remember the comments being that it was very effective but hard to install. I also remember mention that some tasks were a bit more difficult to complete once the steady is installed. Sorry... I don't remember which things were harder to do.

This fits by bolting in the same location as the master cylinder for LHD cars. Unfortunately it's a little difficult to show because the master cylinder and wiper motor would be in the way of any photos of it installed.

The car is an LHD 1978 1000
Has a timing chain side breather.
Will this top steady fit and how does it mount to the bulkhead given the brake and clutch cylinders are there?
Any help or pics of users installs of this part would be appreciated.
