Thank you.  2004 R50 base model.  We have replace the upstream o2 sensor.

Check engine light went on. Code 2096.  Changed bank 1, installed new oxygen sensor.
Same issue.  Replaced catalytic converter, same issue (wasn't clogged).  Removed all injectors, cleaned inspected (operated correctly).  New PCV valve, same issue.  Smoked tested intake track, did not appear to have any leaks.  Had badly worn spark plugs, replaced them.  Smoked tested exhaust, did not appear to be any leaks.  Tested fuel pressure and regulator, seem to be functioning right.  Reset check engine light goes off, start vehicle light comes on immediately.  ANY IDEAS.  I am not a professional. Thank you.  It's a 2004 R50 base model.  We did smoke the exhaust system prior to changing the cat.  Could re-check after the welds.

Did you replace the upstream or downstream O2 sensor?

Year & model of MINI would be useful...

without knowing the specifics of what year/model MINI you're working on this is just a shot in the dark - but I suggest having the exhaust system tested for leaks.
