That's great!  I hope you can access the inside as easily as the picture shows.  If you can remove that internal plate and peen it down/smaller no one will ever see the fix.

Great ideas Doug....I may try and get inside the mirror as well and saw this on a MG forum to access the internals:

If you are not comfortable with the glue try one of the two ideas below.

1) Loosen the two screws a lot.  Then use skinny vise grips to squeeze the collar on the mirror shell in several places to close the hole diameter down.  When you re-tighten the screws the ball should be held tighter.

Set it where you want it then put a few bits of superglue on the pivot part.

Tightened up the two bottom screws enough (to what I am comfortable with) - but still loose and droops down over small bumps.  Not sure there is way to access inside to see if the securement strap can be tightened down a bit more.  Anyone have a solution for this vs buying new mirror?
