I was saved by Steve Epperly in Salem. It turned out to be the connector on the coil with 2 wires was making a bad connection. I couldn't believe it. The stacks are pointing to an aluminum plate on the firewall. Gas drips on the plate and the speedo cable goes through a split there. Fumes in the car. The studs in the manifold are too long and you have to remove the plate to get the Weber off. I need to make a special plate with a recess so I can put an air cleaner over the stacks. I'm not sure it's still dripping since the coil wire but Steve says it's common for side draft Webers to have a gas spray in front of the stacks and an air cleaner solves that.

So, did you find a solution and make it home? We're dying to know how the story ends....

Before replacing carbs you may want to look at the float valve and float bowl of your existing setup? You may only have a float valve that is stuck open or a sunken float. Cleaning or switching a couple of Weber parts on the road would be easier than a complete carb/manifold swap with tuning.
I have NOT listened to the video linked below but perhaps it will be of help to you.

I nursed my classic mini from Vancouver, BC down to Portland with a flooding 40 Dcoe carb. Gas fumes were getting so bad my eyes were watering, pouring rain, at night, could only sometimes see the lines in the road. Arrived at nieces house at. 1:30AM. It's Sunday and I need a carb to make it home to Sac. Gas dripping out of both stacks. Don't need a fire. Where to get a carb here as soon as possible.
