P S-  can’t take credit for the superb condition of the Clubman Saloon, John Wren from Florida did the restoration,  great workmanship for a curator of a museum
Good times Al !  Probably my 2nd time or 3rd time in a Mini.
My first time ever DRIVING a Mini, was when you tossed me the keys to the baby poo green Mini clubman auto and told me to go
for a spin.  Still can't believe you did that (but thanks for your trust my friend). Later that weekend Robin let me drive the Gibraltar Mini 1275 rocket for a few minutes *(supervised of course....we were out on the rally) and wow, that was amazing too.  RIP Zippy.

I think I only met Ron once, though he practically lived next door in Maine (I believe)

He was the one with the burnt orange Mini 1275 (Clubman) GT right?

If so, I have a pic of me and Big Al in that car from Magog, QC back when we were a little younger.

I talked to him at quite a few Mini meets always good conversations, he will be missed.
RIP Ron.

Art McKenzie gone ? , Christ, will it never stop

Funny story about Art at the MM East in Charleston SC , somehow Art took his Mini Cooper off road on a golf cart road and wiped out a Palmetto tree, the Cooper didn’t look too good after that,it was a major calamity as the “ Palmetto tree is the State tree of South Carolina

I was just advised by John Blanchette, Ron’s son that Ron passed away on Friday in Lewisport Maine

I last spoke to Ron, ( Ronnie the Rug) as l liked to call him, on Thursday, he was very depressed with his recent diagnosis with cancer,

He was a great friend and a member of NEMO who attended mini shows all over the country

He always had nice minis and was a fierce competitor in Judged competitions and who was not afraid to tell Judges when he thought they were wrong, he loved his trophies!!

Ron owned and operated a Commercial painting business in Lewiston Me and  did very well for himself, he was an avid entrepreneur, owning car washes, laundry mats and apartment buildings, ( no wonder Ron always paid me in coinage and small bills when him l sold him a mini ) LOL

He will be missed
