How long did you run the engine before you took your temperature readings (i.e. did the thermostat fully open ?)

I'd check your thermostat. Take it out and test in a pot of water on the stove

What engine are you running? A 160 degree thermostat may help, more water than antifreeze is better like 40% antifreeze. Will it come down to 180 at a 45 mph cruse speed and spike up when sitting?

trevor.. make sure you do NOT have air pocket in your heater core.. this is common problem with old minis.. that have been sitting for some time.. later bc

I just replaced the radiator with an alumium with 13blade fan & 180 degree thermostat. Still reading hot. Although the heat llight i use to check the block registered 218, radiator read 127. Any ideas?
