P0012 Cooper =  Camshaft A over retarded, bank 1. Could need a position solenoid or related. It does not need a turbo based on that code. DO NOT go back to that shop! If the $200 at the dealer goes toward repair, probably the way to go. You can enter the codes you got on line and learn for yourself what possible repairs are needed. To the googler! just enter P000A (Hint it's related)

Get your code or codes read at an auto parts store, it’s usually free. Report back with what they found.

Hello
I'm hoping someone can help me!  This is my 2nd Mini - first one was awesome!  This one is a lemon.  Nothing but problems ;-(  My 2009 Mini Convertible S has always leaked oil and coolant.  After replacing oil housing unit it was ok for a while.  I thought it was fixed.  Still isn't.
However, my question is my engine lite has now come on.  I can't afford to have Mini diagnose the problem at $200 per hour as I quoted - and a garage quoted me at $3000 to replace turbo charger.  He never even test drove it.
I'm at a loss!!!!  Any advice is accepted
