The oil pump is driven off the crankshaft and is integrated into the timing chain cover.

Don't know what drives it, but you should pack the oil pump on most newer cars to get a prime. I use Lubriplate #105 as it's just thick enough to stay in place, and will disolve into the oil quickly.
