Had one of these back around 1979....with a 1.5 litre Diesel engine and 4 Speed manual box, transplanted out of a BMC J4 Panel Van.  Slow as a week in the jail, but torquey. Towed my caravan with it, and it was slow, but reliable.
Economy was very good as well.

Not just the torsion bar setup, but the bottom arm looks to be made from little more than a shelving bracket piece of U channel.

As for the handles: //hooniverse.com/2010/08/30/more-than-you-ever-cared-to-know-about-the-morris-marinas-door-handles/

Now try and list all the vehicles those external door handles have been used on - you'll be surprised !

Torsion bar suspension carried over from the Morris Minors, Chrysler and maybe other auto makers used that set up in the 70's also.

Morris Minor in a dress...

So utterly awful at the Press launch that the release was delayed to try and cure some of the lethal understeer.

I remember seeing those as a kid here in NB.
Sorta/kinda reminds me of an early 1970's Toyota Corolla 2-dr coupe.

Not our car related at all ( except Leyland ).  Just got a kick out of this 70's ad.

The ugliest car of them all is the one they are advertising...lol
