I have been installing a lot of MSC cross pin diffs. I don't throw anything away so I have a fair collection of A and A + diff cages. Almost all if not all A early non tabbed spider thrust type have worn the spider thrust well into the cage. I have thought about having a cutter ground so I can sink that area to take two or more thrust. Those that were good I ground slots for the tabbed thrusts and put back in service. The issue I have had with the A+ tab type is the diff. ball bearing falls off during disassembly. I realize many glue the new bearing on with Loctite and never look back. Better living though chemicals. I kind of like my press fits to press. I also have a collection of tranny cases with holes where spider gears found their way out. Sorry to hear about you troubles yes I'd take a hard look at the complete tranny. A failure like that is never a good thing. Steve (CTR)

too much rosemary on the diff cover. I'd try kosher salt and either sage or maybe thyme.

pictures like this scare me. I never thought a differential could explode. Hope your car is back on the road soon.

I appreciate your generous offer Rick.

I am going to have a look around and see what I have here first and let you know

I think I will probably separate the box and engine.  I have gathered all the broken bits and got a magnet in there to get any small bits, but there is always the chance I missed something and it could end up doing damage.

Funny thing about the bus Rick.  Our SK Party did away with the STC  (SK Transit Company), so no bus service at all in the province now !  Maybe Greyhound stops along the #1, but thats about it.

Matthew, I have the diff carrier, cross pin, block, spiders that came out of ROO the Aussie Van...it worked with the 'choked' 1098 - 1 1/4" SU & peashooter exhaust, so no big loads.  (replacing with Mini Spares cross pin diff, new spiders, yoke outputs etc.)

It's yours for cost of shipping.  Without FD, I could get a Greyhound quote.

I think I have three diff. covers similar to yours that I've had to replace for others. Bad differential parts right from the factory. Rebuild the diff. using upgraded parts.
