HI John, I moved from Orange County NY down to Venice about 5 and a half years ago.

I kept my NY house until Dec 2017, traveling back for the summers. Now I am permanent in Venice. I brought my 76 Mini (Biggles), down in Dec, see the post "transporting Mini from NY to FL"

No HOA's for me either, It's been great so far, except the fear of Hurricanes. Biggles lives in our two car garage, and gets out on weekends to romp and enjoy the Florida sunshine.

I have not met any other Minis down here yet, and get lots of thumbs up and interest where ever we go.

I wish you the best in your house hunting. The market is very hot right now, I can't believe how many new homes and condos are under construction right now.

For me this move was a no brainier, close to retirement, and Grand kids are two miles away.

Little reluctant to use this board for a question like this, but I know there are Mini folks in Florida. Was down here for a couple ST's in the 90's. My wife and I are looking at relocating from sunny Pennsylvania. Have family in the Lakeland/Winter Haven area and are looking at property. Any suggestions from Mini-folks in the area? I am not used to HOA's and land use restrictions, so I am looking for opinions from current residents. Can talk off-board if you like.
