Some progress, cut off and ground smooth all the crappy welds, and brackets. Got lucky, and have 6 good nuts, one is stripped, one is ripped out of the panel. Welded a 1/4 28 nut to a piece of steel small enough to feed through the back side 3/4 hole, and fished it to the inside of the ripped hole with a load of epoxy and bolted in the bracket. Repaired and trued the two original single hole brackets to reuse on the passenger side. Will use 2 of the new 3 hole brackets on the drivers side. All thats left is to helicoil the stripped nut. Only have a 1/4 20 insert kit, sorry it will have to do. All this just to be ready to mount seats.

Someone posted that their cars all done! Thanks for the help! Heres a pic...my ass! These cars are never done!

That's a bodge job. Use riv nuts just don't over toque the 1/4" bolts when you fit them.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Here's a pic of my right side seat brackets, there was some thought that it's an early welded original, looks like a bodge to me, and probably done because the captured nuts are shot or missing. the left side looks like the correct bracket type, but is also welded. I have 4 new brackets coming, suspect I need to create new captured nuts, if they are only stripped, then I can just helicoil them. Any tips on this repair are welcome.
