I guess I'm on the site enough to volunteer to be one of a few moderators. Not sure how it would work but I'm guessing that if one of the moderators or a member complains, the moderators confer in a private em setting and come to a decision.  I would hate to ban anyone, but over the years I've seen some posts that got out of hand and were eventually locked.  I'm wondering is there's a way to actually remove a post once it's started and ban a user(s) for a certain amount of time.  And I think an explanation may or may not be in order to the offensive user if that happens.  I also wonder about liability against the moderators.

Agreed. (except for you not volunteering!)

No fee for the moderators is necessary... the POWER would be enough (joking!)

Along with moderators maybe a full profile filled out and ok'd by the moderators before posting, this seems to be the norm on other forums.

I would also like to put my name forward as a moderator, I have previous experience as a moderator on non vehicle based forums and have a good feel for what's right and wrong. I also have extensive experience of our mini's, mostly early cars, MKI and MKII and have owned at least one mini my whole driving life going on for 48 years now. I am currently rebuilding a 1960 for myself and hope to get it finished before the end of the year! I have recently closed my restoration business and have retired to get some of my own projects to the finish line before my own.........

Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

Pretty much any forum I go to has moderators. The larger they get the more important they are. I am a moderator on another car forum and have had to handle what goes with that position. Not nice but needed. Glad this forum may be headed in that direction. Thanks, Don.

I would be willing to be a moderator here. There I have done it.

A step in the right direction Don and a big thank for listening, maybe this forum can get back to what it used to be.

Thanks, Don for moving forward on this issue. I particularly like the idea that their appointment would require the approval of the membership.

I think 3 moderators would be good, maybe 5 might be better though I know the challenge of getting volunteers to step up.

Being your forum, I'd expect you would provide guidelines.

Would the moderators have the authority to ban a person, or just recommend to Minimania? Would they have access to the system to see hidden email addresses so they could caution someone who is misbehaving?

I think a ban should require unanimity between 3 moderators or a majority if there are more than 3. I think a single moderator should be able to delete an offensive or inappropriate post.

Thank- you Don for caring.I want your forum to live again. I however can not apply for the job, as I will not have access to the internet soon. A world of travel is before me. All the best to you and your family. Don Elcomb. Cheers

The Fox applying to guard the Henhouse.  Seriously!!  Don, do the honorable thing and get rid of this nutcase.

Everybody knows he's a few Sandwiches short of a full Picnic Hamper.  We all know where he's coming from, the real question I'd ask is what about you???  Do you hold this Members Forum as lowly as he seems to do?

Listing to all the grumbling lately on this board, I am tempted to put on the table a few thought and questions:
Let's start with taking a vote on how many people would like to see us install a number of board moderators.
I would suggest that one way to do that is with volunteer members that would have to be voted into the position by fellow members.
Part of the challenge in addition to the task itself would be to convince your fellow board members that you are the right person for the job!
I would further assume it would take at least a couple people to cover the job all the time.

Put you name on the ballot and tell us why you should be the one!
