After much investigation and mental anguish, he finally found a head. Ends up the engine is a much later lump with minute differences in the head it will accept.

Thank you to all who gave great advice or solutions. You guys with smart a$$es, thanks for the laughs.

I have one, came from a running car, but otherwise untested. $100, plus freight

66'

funny story about the one on FB. My friend found a craigslist ad for the same set of heads. I jokingly said "I'll laugh if it's my friend Eric, who I've known since our dad's raced in the 70's." It was him, and so is the ad on FB!

Thanks guys. I have a couple sources to check on today. I really appreciate the cumulative knowledge here!

If the cars any good don't bother with a used head, It's not a case of if it will crack, just when.......... I always fit an Aluminium head from moss motors on my rebuilds and they are just great. I've done 4 or 5 in the last couple of years and am currently building a 5 main engine for a super charged MGA Coupe with Alloy head.

A good friend of mine joined the oil dripping bad wiring but HOOT to drive British Car realm last fall. He got a 1970 MGB. It has been spitting a little coolant from between the head/block so we decided to put a new gasket in. We brought the head to a shop and found it to be cracked in a few places. We found a couple heads in town, but nothing is a direct fit.

Anyone out there have a head they would part with?

We've been asking on the MGEXP site too.
