Common rust spot. See https://www.minimania.com/Rust_and_Classic_Minis

My #1 piece of advise would be to try and find someone who knows Minis to look at it for you. In person is ideal, but photos if not.

And Welcome!

If you are shopping in Va. you should take a look at one I have for sale. It belongs to a Dr. who is married to a lawyer. once the kids finished college and moved as far from mom and dad as possible they decided to sell. I did a survey on the car and was told to repair anything that may be a safety issue. Roughly $6800. later it has completely rebuilt engine and tranny, fully adjustable suspension, all brakes rebuilt with new parts and stainless caliper pistons 8.4 disc. nice alloy 5 X 12 wheels and waiting for a buyer and we will add new 145 or 165 tires and a new battery. A couple of small rust spots which we are thinking about having done. You can drive it home or I will drive it to you and find a way home. Contact info is in my profile. Steve (CTR)

Hello,

New member from DE. I used to own a 2008 cooper s, looking at purchasing a 1975 mini cooper. Anything thing particular I should look out for or be aware of while shopping and looking at vehicles? Thanks in advance for any advice.
