I have heard of these concerns however haven’t ran into any issues as of yet. But I also haven’t converted any of the exported cars.

I have imported 4 now, and only once did the officer even come out to look at the vehicle and he was just interested in seeing it. Every other time they checked paperwork and sent me on the way.

Every car was imported 100% legally. I won’t withhold information if they ask, but I am also not going to go out of my way to attract attention.

I had a Japan Mini LH drive also. There were no signs of it ever being RH.

I like that idea.  RHD in CA sucks.   ( unless you're a postal worker...lol )

Mine has the whole AC dash etc.....otherwise I would have switched it to LHD shortly after getting my Jap spec MINI

You need to get yourself the correct pipe on the inner right fender....otherwise you'll just get engine heat and low air flow through your fresh air vents in summer
This car was LHD prior to import, it’s prior history is unknown to me. I personally drove it from Vancouver to Lethbridge in one straight haul, did fantastic!

The air vent was out for that picture however it is installed. We were having some issues with the clutch pressure plate after the gearbox rebuild so we were doing some testing... which eventually lead to a disc and pressure plate replacement.

Why do I have the feeling we are being led down the garden path?

Photos of Darren's Mini, pre-shipping.
He sent me a few pictures taken in Braden's shop. They are png format and are too large to post at 3500kb to 4300 kb. (I can't edit png). Max allowable is 3000kb.
Here's a picture of all the kit he purchased before the Mini was shipped.

The car looks very good indeed. The body looks clean, smooth and tidy, with panels and seams smooth and even. The wavy grille looks gorgeous. The engine bay is very clean and tidy. The underside looks good and unabused - it may have that (factory?) undercoating that dries and flakes off. Exhaust system looks to be larger than the stock pea-shooter, a single box system, possibly a RC40 type. Darren thinks the rear subframe may need to be wire-brushed and repainted, but I suspect what he saw in the photo is mostly the undercoating flaking off. (I'm sure he will be under it today to check it out!) Note to Darren: look at the underside of the battery box: it looks rough too until you see where the undercoating has flaked off to reveal smooth shiny silver paint.

I will try to take screen shots of the photos and post them.

That’s why I left the message on the board for Braden. I could reach him via phone, but it’s nothing too
important and he isn’t likely in the office today anyway.

you should receive an email from me in a couple of minutes.
Thanks for the help Dan. . Even the emoji seems to be working for me since that last change...!
Hi Darren,

I have been skiing today, I responded to your emails this evening. Have you been getting them?

Thanks
braden
Hi Braden; how was the powder ? I like the Mini  ! Cute little devil !  Yep, I’ve been getting your emails
but I get an “ undeliverable “ message. Maybe things will work now...I know that sounds a bit nuts...but
I don’t know why I can Quote either, when I never could before ? Perhaps I can post pictures now too ?
I must give it a try. I’ll talk to you soon Braden, but everything went fine.

I cant remember where that saying ( your post ) comes from, but it is familiar. Hi Mike. Mini’s home here on
PEI . I’ll shoot some pics tomorrow. Cheers all. Braden, car got here fine. Gotta spend some quality time
with Lupin ( my loyal cat ) as I left her alone for longer than I like to today. She wanted out today for the
first time since the snow hit. Sign of an early spring ? Dan, I’ll send you some pics tomput up tomorrow.
she looks good. A bit dusty from the trip of course, but solid like a church.
      Later all
         D.

Glad to hear she arrived Darren! I am sure we will be in touch tomorrow.

The exhaust has a pretty sporty note I really like it actually!

I left the negative terminal off on purpose just a habit I suppose , I suppose with driver changes that message wasn’t passed on

have a a great evening and enjoy the car!

Braden

Look at this ! Quote worked 4 me ! Hot damn ! The unload went good Malcolm. We thought we had a dead
battery at first, but it was just a loose battery terminal. I made a few laps around the subdivision with her,
but the controls weren’t familiar ( been a lot of years ) and it was dark of course. I woke a few people up
i think ( may need a new muffler ) , but I hope they fell back to sleep.... I need some sleep too....I’m a bit
exhausted from the emotional trip down memory lane and all. Sorry if this post is a bit sloppy Malcolm...
a definite sign that I need some shut eye. Back in the fraternity after 38 years.....  !
