In Metro Vancouver, B.C. John Goolevitch in Maple Ridge is very good at steel work on Classic Minis - sedans, wagons, van, pups & custom trailers: www.miniman.ca

For Mini mechanical work & laser alignment down to 10" wheels, Cedar Valley Alignment in Mission, B.C. (mid-Fraser Valley) does very good work. Proprietor Nolan Kitchen Ice Races a turbo-charged Classic Mini and he also has Martin Webber (formerly Mostly Minis), an experienced Mini mechanic, on the job.

Len Swanson at Helmut's Auto in Abbotsford, B.C. (mid-Fraser Valley) is also very good and owns drives a Classic Mini.

All are Members of the Vancouver Mini Club, www.vancouverminiclub.ca well known & respected!

There's a Specialist in Arizona, Yuma I think, that claims to be a master fabricator.

For machine shop work in the Pittsburgh area I can also recommend Brougher's Machine Shop in Pleasant Hills, south of the city.  They are at 223 Clairton Blvd.  Several friends in the MG Club and Western PA Triumph Association recommended Brougher's for the machining work on my present MGB GT project.  They were not fast, but when I got the block, crank, rods and head back from them, all the measurements (bore, crank regrind, con rods, etc.) I checked were spot-on.  And they thoroughly cleaned everything after the machining and other work.  The last time I had a block machined at another place, it came back full of crud from machining and I had a lot of cleaning work to do getting it ready for assembly.  I'll also note when I was there once dropping off some parts, Jim Boffo was also there dropping off or picking up some work.  While the majority of their work is big block racing engines, they are also very knowledgeable of our British car engines.  And they even have an engine dyno in their shop.

In Ontario Canada, we have lost Mr Mini & BMC but, l can recommend, Dr Doolin in the Niagara Penninsula

And Rudy, Mr Grean in Brampton (Toronto) Ontario & Wiebe Meyer in Fenwick Ontario as an engine rebuilder of good quality Also Brit West in Mount Pleasant (Branford) Ontario, top end people but pricey There are other shops in Ontario but if l am not familiar with their work l am hesitate to recommend them

I am fortunate to have as a friend, a retired Brit Car mechanic who @ 76 years old still knows his stuff but is reluctant to take on any outside work as it cuts into his BEER time

We have approximately 150 running minis in Ontario that l know of, a sad state of affairs for a Province of over 5 million people

Big AL

If l have overlooked anyone, l apologize

Boffo was indeed a perennial regular in SCCA racing in the northeast back in the day Don. He and Ed Spreen spent many years doing battle with one another in C Sedan race Mini's. It's nice to see that he's still active these days, through his involvement in vintage racing.

People ask me where do I get my British cars (Mini & MG) repaired.  My usual reply is in my own garage.  But many around here in the Pittsburgh PA region use Boffo Motors Inc. in New Brighton, PA.  While I haven't used their services, I've had many friends report great service from Boffo and they don't hesitate to recommend Boffo for service work.  I believe Jim Boffo used to race Minis back in the day.  There's a chance that Don Racine may even know Jim.  Just my 2 cents worth...

In the mid-Atlantic USA area, (southeastern Virginia), one cannot go wrong by contacting Steve Gibbs of Cooper Tune at 757-247-5359, for anything classic Mini.

It would be great if we can find someone in most major cities in the country so that no matter how far you traveled you can be assured to find help in desperate time.

If people are asking in Colorado - suggest referring them to MOTR. We're happy to provide more customized info for exactly what they are looking for than can be done in a static list on a msg board.

I haven’t placed any orders , but others must have. This could be a great resource for newbies like me if it gets some traction. I suppose it’s best not to be dissing folks, but sharing GOOD experiences would really help. Cheers all. Darren.
