Anyways had it looked at and I'm told that it looks like an original 1275 but not a C. The original valves are a bit pitted on the bottom but still holding compression. Think we will change them at this point and get some hardened seats milled in. The cam shows wear. I actually noticed this myself, that the chrome is worn off some of the lobes and where it is they wear flat very quickly. 2nd photo shows the layer of chrome and the steel underneath.

can you post a pic of the front and top of the cyl. head. Wondering if it was a pollution head which would ID the engine, maybe, or at least the head.

One question i'm thinking about is the wiring on this car. It is a dog's breakfast from previous owners over the years. Wondering if anyone has completely re-wired before and if there is such a thing as a complete wiring harness to start new.
I HIGHLY recommend an autosparx loom. A friend wanted me to help him sort the wiring in his Traveller years ago and it was a spaghetti mess of mostly red wires going to everything.
I told him the only way I would be involved would be if he bought a loom as it would be cheaper in the long run.
When it arrived, it took an afternoon to fit and everything worked as it should after that.

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

The proud mini owner is actually my son who just turns 14 shortly. I'm just the lucky mechanic and coach. Our plan is to get it restored for his 16th birthday so going to be a while before it's on the road. It's a great way to pass the time with your kid and create some memories.

Hey Newkid, where in Canada are you? Greetings from sunny Victoria.
You may want to talk to your local tool rental place when it comes to putting the engine back in. You can rent an engine hoist for next to nothing.

If we do the green/yellow color scheme, I wonder if we could fit a mower deck under it......... hmm...
FYI - a tractor seat on wheels makes a great floor creeper.
