Do I run a tap into them, then fit a bolt and drive out from other side? Steve (CTR)

In a front hub strip down and rebuild you should be replacing these dowels ( not expensive) and the sterling arm bolts and double locking  washer every time. I replace caliper bolts too. Not much point in reusing the dowels after all the heat, mole grips, pullers and taps.

Two new ones just showed up in my mail. Still have 3 stuck ones soaked in PB blast in the sunshine refusing movement!

I sprayed with some penetrating oil while it was very warm and let it sit over night.  The next day I plucked it out like a loose tooth.

If worse comes to worst, something like PB, a little heat and vise grips to rotate them back and forth, and back and forth and out. Once out, touch up a little with a file.

I'm currently doing a brake conversion and was able to salvage 2 of them. My car came with 3 front wheel set ups (don't ask) I have 3 stuck and one was missing. It chaps my tush that I can't dislodge these to save my life. New ones aren't overly expensive but not what I wanted to spend money on when I have 3 sitting in front of me teasing me! I've soaked them in PB Blaster, heated them, cooled them, and they won't budge.

I agree it it would be nice for the conversion kits to include new ones.

I've never had much success removing these without damaging them, so I've had to buy new.

The problem is, any attempt to squeeze them tight forces them out of round, so they grab in the bore. Rust doesn't help.
You could try putting a small dynabolt inside; do it up tight, THEN use heat on the body. Use the dynabolt as a handle.

If all else fails and you can't buy new, get a machine shop to turn a couple up out of hi tensile steel. They are not hardened.

I'm transferring the steering arm from my drum brake hubs to my new disc brake hubs.  There are 2 bolts that hold the arm on.  There are also 2 "ring dowels" that go on there too.

theres gotta be a trick to get those off the old hub if they're stuck.  ...besides having tiny bearing puller.

whats the trick?

I all ready tried brute force and heat.

also, new "ring dowels" should really be included in this disc brake conversion kit.  They must cost next to nothing.  And one could anticipate that they'll probably be stuck.
