Purchased July 1998 from owner in Chico, CA. Was garaged there and has been here in Las Vegas, NV these 20 yrs. since. Vague history in CA, think it came into Sacramento, possibly in Nevada City and then Chico. At time of purchase there was a dent in the boot lid which was repaired after I had a bonnet blowover which resulted in new bonnet, hinges and decent paint match.
20 yr. history of progressive repair/restoration. Interior is about all that is left to do. I had the back seat done in 1999 while doing mechanical work.
Currently on new A008 Yokahama tires and 10X6 real MiniLite wheels; stock 4.5 X 10 wheels, hub caps and lug nuts available.
Record of engine rebuild in mid 1990's; currently (10/2018) compression tested 190 in all cylinders and held. New head gasket. Complete valve job 2004.
Rebuilt/converted front and rear suspension to red springs and Spax shocks and all bushings, bearings, seals, fittings and adjustable lower arms and rear trailing for camber and caster.
At time of suspension conversion while engine/trans were out went through entire systems check, new out put shaft bushings and new Hardy-Spicer U-joints and nuts and bolts.
LCB header; car came with a "Cherry Bomb" muffler and one-off exhaust tip (kinda cool), makes pretty nice notes.
Both gas tanks taken out to get the new shocks in, so cleaned them and painted, new filler gussets at the body and new flexible fuel lines and fuel pump.
Full brake job with rear drums turned, wheel cylinders replaced( not rebuilt) and front calipers split, cleaned and rebuilt with new pistons, seals and dust seals. New brake booster at this time too. Just recently replaced master cylinder.
New clutch, street lightened flywheel, slave and master cylinder. All brake and clutch lines are braided. It goes and stops good.
New front window channels for the slider windows ( a MK1 must).
Original parts will be included: steering wheel and horn button, exhaust pipe and muffler, etc.
Complete shop history kept with parts replaced, dates and costs. Car is in excellent running condition at this time, would say very close to brand new mechanically. Currently having numbers researched for a Heritage Certificate that will be included in the purchase.
Will entertain all serious offers. This is a very good little car. Retirement doesn't include it in the plan-no proper place to keep it. Will not allow it to sit out in the weather; doesn't deserve to be treated that way this late in it's life.
