miniboo, Thanks for the pic, but I do not have a slot on the inside for the circlip. Wish I had the same setup, then I would not be posting.

Se7en, Ah, I guess I misunderstood the book. Set the gap on the small nut, thinking it was the only thing to adjust. I thought that you were only measuring the free play of the arm when all the way in and not setting the system as a whole. I see it now. I got all the parts and pieces (return spring, etc..) I will readjust and report back.

Overthrow nut is way too far out. When set correctly, there's very little movement between engage and disengage so the nut doesn't need to be that far out - it's doing nothing out ther but going along for the ride. Go by the manual to set the stop adjustment to .020" (the little bolt) when the throwout bearing is contacting the clutch, then adjust the overthrow as per the manual. There should be very little space between the cover and the overthrow nut flange. Also, the clutch arm needs the return spring off the top of it back to the slave to pull the arm back to rest after letting off the pedal. Look at the catalog for the bits needed if you don't have any of them. SE7EN

So, the inner nut is the stop for the clutch and the outer one is the stop nut, right? Just loosen the outer nut, tighten the one with the flange, then tighten the outer nut to stop the whole shebang from moving?

Here is the pic of the cover. Guess there is no good angle to take the picture from. QS, once I get 'er figgured out and get the new slave, you can have the whole kabab if you want. It must be fairly new because it is not all rusted.

Here is the slave. No circlip, and I do not see anywhere to put one. The seal seems good with no nicks, etc....

I'm with miniboo. It needs a circlip to prevent that from happening, no matter how everything else is set up. SE7EN

Two large nuts in the center of the cover. They are on the shaft that holds the TO bearing. Some cars did not have them. Spelling errors may be beer related

It's possible that the flexible hose has broken down internally and isn't allowing the fluid to return to the master cylinder.

Maybe clutch arm in wrong, wrong or worn pushrod, clevis pins badly worn. The piston should not come that far out. Does your clutch cover have a stop? Post us a pic of the clutch cover. Spelling errors may be beer related

Has anyone had this happen to them? The piston came right out the end of the cylinder and cocked itself. Ordered up a new one from our host. What would cause this? I did just mount the tranny and motor together and put it in, so I did have the clutch out and the wok off. Gene
