i use a SW5 cam along with a set of Winsor 1.5 roller rockers in my +040 S engine. prefect for street use, idle's great and like Rick says it packs a terrific grunt. both have been installed at the same time, so i dont know the difference ie: only the cam, or only the rockers...

MG Metro - we ran one for 10 years in MG Metro 1275 with 1.3 then 1.5 rockers, good fuel mileage, emissions OK.  Believe it was the hottest stock cam used in the A series.

SW5 for terrific grunt for almost all your driving, good economy and good emissions as per Aircare on Thursday (been running in 1380 with 1.5 ratio for two+ years).

Can't comment on the new SW5-07 cam or others.

http://www.minimania.com/web/AddedFrom/Item_SPNF/Item/CAM103S/InvDetail.cfm look at the articles http://www.minimania.com/Article_Type.cfm and fill in your profile.  The 'S from the factory used an AEG148 cam, as you are saying '65.  In '66 it used an AEG510 which is available from our host http://www.minimania.com/web/Item/AEG510/AddedFrom/Search/InvDetail.cfm The roller rockers do not do anything for a camshaft's "mildness" they possibly increase the lift - as you say you have the 1.5:1 ratio vs the around 1.3 of the standard ones.  If you do mix a high lift cam with the 1.5 ratio - read about spring crush.

I'm building an original 1965 Cooper S 1275 motor for street use. Bore is standard. Original crank and rods are balanced and polished. I have an AEG163 cylinder head which has been ported and polished. The head has been lightly skimmed. We've checked the compression ratio and it looks like we will be at 10.25:1. I've recently been given a set of 1.5 roller rockers and I'm trying to decide on what cam I want. As it is a street motor, it needs to be driveable, and apparently the roller rockers already give me the equivalent of a mild cam. How much further should I go? Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.
