David taught me everything I know about Minis. I bought my 2nd Mini from him in April 1982 and came back every night for the next year and a half learning to work on them (and bumming meals). I have been lucky to call he and Donna my friends ever since. He has never charged me to work on a Mini and I in return have never charged anyone either. I guess I picked that up from him. I missed class 102 but I did make the 101 class..... he never cracked open a manual. So at least now I know how to take a transmission apart. But I suppose if I ever do, he'll be a phone call away if I can't get it back together. Thanks David for giving so much back to the Mini community.

Here's the link to the pics, but those more knowledgeable than I will have to explain what's going on. I missed Mini Tranny 101, and only turned up for the last half hour of 102, but I'm on the Mini football team, so Coach will make sure I pass anyway... http://www.flickr.com/photos/97521452@N00/sets/72157606768030934/ rusted subframe bolts are the hardest material known to man...

Wade, you are most welcome. I hope those that were here were able to learn something. Always glad to help out. I am no ace but have been around this stuff for a LONG time. At soon to be 52 years old I got my first Mini at 14 so I have been around it a while. Spelling errors may be beer related

I've known David for 36 yrs now, and what you are saying fully describes him. As long as I have known him, he has always been eager to help out any Mini/MINI owner. I fell in love with Minis as he built and rebuilt his throughout HS. Once I spent 4 yrs in the USAF and returned home, I assisted David in assembling my first US Mini. I can't begin to tell you how many FREE hours he spent on that job. David's help.......PRICELESS! Of course, back in those days he had a job and less mouths to feed. Hope he finds something soon or can land a Mini repair job that will put some $$ in his pocket.

Great Job! Pictures always welcome. The one thing I have came to realize is that there are great people out there. When someone posts "Call/Email me, I can help" they mean it. Not with the mini, but I had a problem with my twin HS carbs on my MGB, (ended up shafts were worn and causing vaccuum leak) a guy offered to help and found out he lived about two miles away. Help when you can, ask when you must.

We finished up my tranny Saturday at David's. We sure learned alot about diagnosing problems and how all the parts work together. Hopefully Alan will post some photos he took. I just wanted to again thank David for his time, patience and ability to curse at various tools and stuff.
