Yeah, the radiator is a must. The one in it right now is barely keeping the 998 cool. The bracket is cheap. Not sure about the intake/exhaust. I may not know about that stuff until it is time to bolt everything together. Not too worried about the exhaust, could put an lcb on it while I am at it, but buying a new carb/intake - yowch. There are a few minis that I know of that have no documentation. May buy one for parts. I don't want to change too much, though. Everything in the Inno seems original and in really good shape for a 40 year old car. Gene

Upper radiator bracket. Upper radiator hose. Other parts depending upon the 1275s heritage, as PM says. Consider a radiator upgrade. 850/998 radiators aren't up to a 1275s needs if you run hard or idle a lot in warm/hot weather.

if its from a mini and not a metro (which most 1275s on the used market are) then the swap is much easier. I believe just about everything should swap over. That is, if the parts are 998, if they are 850 you will have to change carb and intake, and exhaust manifold and such. peter No more cars left, Westpaminis is now just a memory, Good luck to all those hard working dealers left out there, We can tell you its not easy. We have fully enjoyed meeting all the fine folks we have in the business.

I can get the engine number. It says Mini Cooper on the tag on the valve cover. Will all of the ancilliaries bolt up (intake, exhaust, etc??) Gene

Assuming the engine is from a Mini or Austin American, it should be fairly easy, I did my 850/1275 swap some years ago so I forget the little nuances. Depending upon what the engine is from, you may need to change minor parts that can be borrowed from your existing engine. I think if you are putting in an Austin American engine you need to change the front engine plate and the radiator. The twin carb angle may be a little shallow, but they still do work. It is an easy often done swap and quite rewarding.

Have a MKIII Inno 850. It has a 998 in it right now, but the engine is not doing so hot (actually it is getting too hot, head gasget or valves maybe). I have a 1275 to drop into it while I rebuild the original 850. I won't be driving it hard to worry about brake or carb upgrades. Just want it to run. Will it just drop in? Is there anything else that I MUST get to do the swap? Thanks for the help. Gene?
