Doing some further checking it looks like that ratio was only offered in pre A+ so your pinion would not work.

i just searched on "pinion" and "crown" separately and didn't get the 2.95 either way. It seems that they are only listed as a pair of gears. Since it's the pinion which usually shows more wear, a $399 pair of gears isn't so useful for somebody wanting to replace just a worn pinion. Not sure where you found that a DAM5927 2.95 pinion works with a 3.05 crown wheel, but I'm always willing to learn.

That gear failure doesn't look like it was anything to do with the power of the engine. It's not an overload failure.

locktabs should only be used on Canadian mouths to keep them shut.

Sometimes when the windows are open, sheets of paper containing valuable information may blow off of your desk. You can install the pinion gear in a basic downward gravity style directly on these papers and this will prevent serious disruption. There will be no need to overtorque the nut, but a new locktab might be a good idea.

miniboo. i don't really need a 2.95 FD. Even if I did, there is no 2.95 crown wheel listed on this site or others. I doubt that they are available new.

I have a brand new A Plus 2.95 pinion gear, part number DAM5927, but no crownwheel to go with it. I was wondering if this pinion can be used with any other crownwheels to give a different ratio. This pinion appears to be no longer available. I hate to use it for a paperweight.
