If my yard were bigger than a postage stamp, this is definitely what I would use. It doesn't get more american than that.

Steering wheel looks about 2' too low. (or the seat 2' too high !)

Is that a hydraulic 3-way valve I see about middle of the rear of the engine?

And some kind of Block-n-Tackle on the front right side?

His and hers electric mowers. Mine is an older Craftsman mulching type, almost new when I got it as a swap for replacing a neighbour's kitchen taps for him. It has been going for over 12 years and has taken anything I threw it at, including using it to mulch leaves in the fall.

Hers is a Black & Decker given to her by a friend who sold her house and moved to an apartment.

Our lot is about 1/2 acre of which we mow about half.

WeirdEh... if your girls are going to mow, consider ease of starting and operation. You don't want something you need to pull on until it injures your arm or back because they can't get it going. Electric is manageable and as safe as any because of the  'dead-man' feature and instant stop of the motor/blade.  You just need enough cord of the proper size that the motor receives full current. Plug it into a GFI outlet and even if the run over the cord, they will be protected. No fuels, no oil changes, no smell and little noise. Get a mulcher and the won't have to deal with a bag either.

well. I was talking with a buddy tonight and tomorrow I will go pick up a reel type push mower from him that I might try and attach to the front of the scooter. of course the blades will have to be powered with a 500 watt 24 motor so that they are spinning before they reach the grass. this should help with drag a bit. we will see.

Adam already has a really cool home built scooter not so unlike this....maybe he just needs to attach a self propelled walk-behind mower to the front or rear to assist the scooter in the grass?!

    What say Adam?

yep, we had the old black and Decker electric one with 2 blades underneath. I remember my dad teaching me how to use it, and the first thing he taught me to do , was to unplug the cord after I ran it over. That old extension cord must have had black electrical tape in at least 10 places by the time I was 15

My Parents had one of those years ago (when I was 13 and mowing the lawn) I HATED it. it would ALWAYS sart as soon as you flipped the switch!! I could never get out of mowing the lawn because the mower wouldn't start.

and the cord drove me crazy. (the reason I am leaning towards battery)
