Aftermarket replacement MINI Cooper Oil Filter from Purflux, the OEM supplier to MINI. You can never change your oil too often - it's cheap insurance! Includes the filter, O-ring, and washer for the drain plug.

Many people feel the factory interval is too long and they change their oil and filter once if not twice between the recommended interval.

If you own the Cooper S model with the Turbocharged engine, we STRONGLY recommend you change the motor oil more frequently than the factory recommendation. Anecdotal evidence suggests the Mini's turbocharger have fewer issues with more frequent oil changes. We suggest 5000 mile oil change interval or less. Make sure you use FULL SYNTHETIC motor oil with the ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Europeens d'Automobiles) A3/B3 specification.

Fits the following models:

  • 2007-2013 R56 Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop
  • 2008-2014 R55 Cooper and Cooper S Clubman
  • 2009-2015 R57 Cooper and Cooper S Convertible
  • 2012-2015 R58 Cooper and Cooper S Coupe
  • 2012-2015 R59 Cooper and Cooper S Roadster
  • 2011-2016 R60 Cooper and Cooper S Countryman
  • 2013-2016 R61 Cooper and Cooper S Paceman

Tightening torque:

  • Oil filter cannister / cover:  25 Nm or 18 lb-ft
  • Drain plug:  30Nm or 22 lb-ft. (Drain plug can be 8mm Allen or T-50 Torx.)

NOTES ON ENGINE OILS

  • Factory oil recommendations may change over time.  Although we do our best to provide the most up-to-date information, always check with the factory for the current recommendations.
  • For the Gen2 (R55/56/57/58/59/60/61) 2007-2016 MINI Models, approved oils are FULL SYNTHETIC SAE 0W-40, 0W-30 (recommended), 5W-40, 5W-30 (we recommend). API SM or higher, ACEA A3/B4.
  • Remember to use Full Synthetic engine oil! Capacity for oil change with filter is 4.2 ltr, or 4.4 qts.
  • See G2NME1052 for the 27mm socket required to loosen the oil filter cap.
  • Torque oil filter cannister to 25Nm or 18 lb-ft, and drain plug to 30Nm or 22 lb-ft. Drain plug can be 8mm Allen or T-50 Torx.
  • To reset the oil change interval in your MINI, see oil service reset. (If your MINI is still under the free factory maintenance program, don't reset the interval.)

For additional protection, take a look at our Magnetic Oil Drain Plug.

Note: The factory recommends removing the intake snorkel to access the filter, but some have found that moving the reservoir tank aside without removing the lines is an easier way to get access. You decide!

It helps if you 'loosen' the oil filter canister while you drain the oil to allow the oil to drain out of the filter. You will spill less oil this way. To access the filter canister, remove the washer reservoir (1 bolt) but not the hoses, and move it aside. Before you press the filter into the canister cover, press it into the filter base 'all the way' and remove to prep the filter for proper seating. Now you can press filter into the canister cover and install. Remember to use the new O-ring on the canister cover - put a little oil on the new oil ring so it doesn't bind. Start the canister cover by hand to avoid cross-threading. Don't forget to use the new crush washer on the oil pan drain plug.
