To real, hard-core Mini lovers, most of that footage is.

It isn't so much being "fast" as being "quick"
A sling-shot dragster is fast but not quick. It cannot corner at all. A Classic Mini corners like no other car.
Few cars back then had independent suspensions and almost all were rear-wheel drive. Now almost all cars have 4-wheel independent suspension, very many are front wheel drive, some have traction control and other electronic systems to ensure road grip and handling. engines are now much more powerful and weigh a lot less. These "other" cars now handle and perform much better than they used to.

But a classic Mini can be even quicker (and faster) than they were back then. We have better tires, better wheels, better suspension components and may improvements to the engines.

I'd post a picture of the view from my Mini in the fast lane, but the rules are very strict here about hand-held devices while driving. You can't even have your phone on the seat or console beside you. It has to be in a holder and be hands-free. Even stopped at a traffic light.
But it is fun at 120kph.

now wait a minute, i have been asking this in my mind long time ago, WHY are classic minis before rans fast, and why are minis now so slow???  In that video, the red mini(which looks very much like my friend's mini) drives very fast, but minis now cannot even keep up with the fast traffic in highways with other modern cars.  Before ,you can even get a speeding ticket but now minis are always on the right side of the road, which is the slow lane.

The Video is very nice,, not until the last part where the BIG mini "wannabe" appeared to be tearing the road, which really does not happen in reality

And our little cars will become even more popular, especially red ones...And continue to be called Mini Coopers. I do think that video will educate a ton more folk. And Cookie's Rally Replicas will become even more popular...

I really did have to laugh when the ugly duckling pulled out from behind the real mini at the end....

This is a MINI promotional video; BMW tapping into the legacy of the classic Mini [link]. It's pretty cool, actually. I particularly like the Mini vs. Ford Falcon rivalry.

A friend of mine owned a Trans-Am style Falcon race car while "Rosebud" was still on floor jacks being restored. We did a lot of bench racing but alas, never went head to head on the track. My friend sold his Falcon to a fellow in Britain Great who ran it at Goodwood. He said the Falcon ran great, but said "I couldn't keep this little Mini off my arse" [link].
