bodger.. I agree . mokes fetch more money in  the EU than in the USA.  btw.  Did you sell and restore  the moke for nigel g .from texas. ? he had called me about importing it.  CBP US CUSTOMS will SEIZE it if it comes to the USA. with WRONG color and WRONG year of manufacture..  fyi.. tom schrumm has another 25 or so of those POS catalina mokes in MN..   and they were BAD 17 years ago when I saw them after MME in Magog..Quebec.. I would HATE to see them now..  what kind of money are you getting for total rebuild moke with new shell?/ got to be 35000 quid..  later bc

EuroMokes.  Bill is right about the high prices that Mokes are achieving in Europe.  But the best prices are only paid for the best Mokes and there is still a lot of rubbish about.

If you do manage to secure such a large quantity of Mokes, then that in itself can create a lot of excitement.  About this time last year, an enterprising businessman here in the UK brought back 21 ex hire Mokes from Macau to the UK and sold them all very quickly.  Take a look here

Meanwhile at M Parts, we also imported 17 of Larry Holloway's Catalina Mokes back in 2014.  They were all wrecks, but each is receiving a new bodyshell that we assemble from genuine Moke panels from the factory.  Details here

Yours sounds like a great plan. Whilst it looks like you may not be able to import your Mokes to the US, you may actually do better selling them in Europe.  Do get in touch if you would like any help and advice.  Roger

euromokes..  well mokes in spain. france, italy , portugal ,germany bring STUPIC money.. just look at www.milanuncios.com  15-19,000 EUROS. for just an average moke.  and you got to figure $5-7k in transport costs with US duty ect.. to add one.. sure do NOT see any money importing them from europe.. and mokes in the UK.. just peep at www.ebay.co.uk  or www.carandclassic.co.uk   proper UK mokes are 27000,30000 quid.. which is over $40k USD..  and even look at jean claude site in montecarlo, monaco..  www.mokoncept.fr  TOTALLY sold out of mokes..

What Dan said x2! Bill may not be the most politically correct person on the board but he knows about importing cars and selling them. FWIW, ever since 9/11 US Customs (along with other government agencies) have created their own way of doing things that tromp all over our Constitutional rights. Long gone are the days when you could ship stuff in without brokers, bonds, and crushing. RHD is now an issue, even though every mail truck in the US is RHD. PLEASE! Anyway, good luck with your adventure! Could yield a large profit or a large loss...

EuroMokes: heed thewerewolf's advice... he probably knows more about the ins and outs of import of vehicles and selling them in the US than anybody else you'd run across, including a fair number of gov't officials. He's probably seen just about every possible problem and has the scars to prove it.

euromokes.. all US states require you to have proper dealer lic and proper dealer lot  if you sell more than 4 cars PER year.. some states are couple more ... and you must have US CUSTOMS bond if you import more than 4 cars per year now.. you should find you someone that has all this BEFORE you try to import to the USA> and someone you know DAMN well. has you are trusting them with your mokes and the EU titles..   later  bc ps. stay away from trying to import or sell into California  .. just too many  laws on grey market import made after 1 Jan 68

I guess I got lucky, then

All pre-Sept 92 (aka more than 25 years old).

I'm in Europe--but an American citizen--so it's a little easier.

I really doubt you could buy 10 mokes in southern europe.. as either michael bax at www.riverhousemini.com or Jean Claude at www.mokoncept.fr would have already bought them..  you if find them in southern spain. portugal or france.. it will cost you $3-4k just to get the the  port in the EU to ship to the USA>.  and btw.. has to be PRE 1 sept 92 to ship to the USA.. today.. later bill cox MBA lic NC dealer and bonded US CUSTOMS importer with TWIC ACE and SCAC  www.montecarlomini.com and US importer for www.moke.com.hk phone  001.704.4876406

I may be importing between five and ten Mokes--all in very good condition--from Southern Europe, this fall.  Nearly all are 80s or 90s Austins, but a couple are older, with one Leyland in the bunch.

I will likely auction the cars on Ebay, but I'm also considering other possibilities and came across this site.

If anyone is potentially interested, please let me know!

Best, Matthew
