There may have been some bumping or body work done that closed the area a little. But you should be able to lower the left side after getting out the bolts, then wedge and wiggle till the neck comes out.

While you have it out, clean it and seal it.

Sounds like you need to pull on the rear valance, it should drop right out

Thanks.

Unfortunately mine won't come past the lower rear valance panel. Possibly it has been buggered and pushed in. I'll start there.

I have in the last few months removed and re-installed the fuel tanks from both of my mid 60s estates and other than some jockeying at times, they came out and went back in without any cussing or cuts and bruises. I kept the end opposite the fuel filler slightly lower in order to maneuver the filler neck out and back in. Randy

I use a floor jack with a Harbor Freight crossbar to lower it evenly. Fuel line disconnected?

Not hanging up on the fuel filler at all?

Is there a trick to removing the fuel tank from an external-tank Traveller? The tank wedges itself between the rear sub-assembly rear rail and the lower rear body valance.

Thanks,
