Yes, Silver Brocade on the wheel arches, door cards, front parcel shelf and dash panels, as well as the rear parcel shelf. Seats were powder blue with Silver Brocade inserts.

Dr. Mini,  So, seats and interior to go with the body or just black vinyl?  If you want to sell those powder blue seats let me know.  I am looking for some better seats.  Pics of panels and seat to come.   Thanks for advise.

As to Parnell's book, I was one of about 12 close friends of his in the Mini Cooper Register that got to review the book prior to it going to print. Excellent book! Not perfect, but best Mini book written so far. Anyway, my familiarity with Silver Brocade is from owning a Surf Blue 997 Cooper from the fall of 84. As my son was about 5 months old when I got it, it's the first Mini he ever knew. I restored it once and took it to England on my last tour of duty. While I was there I scored a complete roll of NOS Silver Brocade to finally be able to replace the front seats with the correct covers. Upon returning in 94 I gave the car to Eric and he is in the process of restoring it to a 100 point restoration. While in England I spent numerous visits to the old Heritage centre visiting Clausayer and looking thru the factory ledgers. That's where I found out Silver Brocade ended in 62. I am amazed that dogscarf has seen so many OZ Cooper S' with Silver Brocade. I have only seen a handful of them myself in the 41 yrs I've owned Minis, including my tenure as General Secretary and Committee member of the Mini Cooper Register. I will say he's correct about one thing though, Surf Blue w/Old English White roof and Silver Brocade is a really nice combination. Oh yeah, FWIW, I recently picked up 2 powder blue w/Silver Brocade original front seats in fairly decent shape to go with our original back seat. So, there may be some more floating around, 55 yrs later.

Dr. Mini, My car came with Special Burgundy and a white roof.  Special Burgundy is especially ugly.  Thus, I opted for Surf Blue which is a magnificent color choice.   I couldn't give two craps if it didn't come from the factory as such.  Read my last post as to the silver brocade.  I have plenty of black vinyl to go with the black interior.  I will post pics of my interior panels.

Surf Blue was not a Cooper S colour in 67 UK cars. I doubt it was an OZ colour. As to the Silver Brocade, it was definitely not used past 1962, so no Cooper S ever had Silver Brocade. So, you like Surf Blue and Silver Brocade...congratulations, you're going to have a beautiful 997 Cooper clone.

Pretty sure surf blue was not an Oz option....  And unfortunately black came with the Mk II .....Mk Is had coloured trim keyed to the exterior colour...

But definitely no brocade... 

The ID tag on the firewall (above the - RHD- master cylinders..) should tell you the original colour..

Actually, I have no particular liking of silver brocade, but as it seems to be in lots of the original and restored Oz Cooper S cars I have pics of.  It was my assumption that this was original.   If my 1967 Morris Cooper S from Oz came with black vinyl all the better. I have loads of black vinyl. So, if you guys are telling me that black was original that would be great.  Please don't tell me that it was gold brocade.

What makes you want Silver Brocade for your car? Silver Brocade was used on 61 - 62 997 Coopers. Never made it to Cooper S production. Even then it was only used in Fiesta Yellow and Surf Blue cars. Very small number of Minis ever had Silver Brocade. Anyway, good luck in sourcing it anywhere. Newton is probably your only option, and their product is not right. Other than that, I'd say it's made of "unobtainium". But, you never know when you're gonna trip over some that got overlooked back in the 60's. To that I'll add that my friend John in England (who actually developed the presses for the current Brocade) and sold it to Newton. He tried years to find enough original material to develop the press from. In the end he only got enough original material to make a door card size of material. Unfortunately, that's not long enough to make the dash mat or rear parcel shelf out off. Therefore, John and Newton can only produce those panels with a stitched line in them. Newton has either never been able to find enough original stuff (same problem John had) or they don't care about putting a seam in those panels. Now for the "Na-ne, nah, nah" moment. If Newton had bought John's press a year and a half later than they did, John could have made a longer press...you see, after it was all said and done, I found the"Holy Grail". Yes, right before I left England I found a whole roll of NOS Silver Brocade. It's a beautiful thing! We have done the seats for my son's 997 Cooper, but still need to do the door cards. In time we will do them and finish the car.

Have you tried calling Newton Commercial? I've bought things from the UK and had them at my door inside a week. 

I am looking for just the material.  I need to cover my wheel arches before I install the rollbar and then I can work on the rest of the car.  This part is holding me up.

Fellow Minoids,  I need some silver brocade material for my Aussie MkI Cooper S.  I know that Newton Commercial has it but I want a source from the states that does not take a month to get.
