I'm not sure if there are any other supports as standard or as needed, but the outer sheath of the cable should be securely clamped at the valve bracket so the core wire has something to push/pull against. It is not easy to tell, but it appears there is a clamp around the sheath (or maybe factory fastened to it) that is held on by a zip-tie. It should be bolted, judging from the slot in the clip.

Sorry. It's a 90 JDM. Twin Carbs were added, so assume the heater cable mount had to be relocated.

Does anyone have a photo of how the heater cable is mounted in the engine bay? Mine doesn't seem to be mounted, but is connected to what looms like a mount.
