It started as a simple craigslist post texted to me by a friend. After hours of conversation, I now own a 1973 RWA Midget with a spun bearing. The PO has the engine apart (very well organized) where I saw a failed rod bearing. Bores are NOT scored. Rings decent. ALL parts there to reassemble. Extra trans. NEW roof. VERY little rust. Interior a 7 out of 10. Dash pristine. I couldn't resist. I even got my wife to say "why not".
My parents had a 71 Midget when I was growing up. They must have put 100,000 miles on it touring the back roads of Michigan. It looked great next to the 1971 Mini.
I'm hoping to get the engine in the shop for a full inspection then freshen up all the surfaces. Famous last words?
On a side note, took both the mini and lotus for spirited runs through the twisties in the woods today. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful day!
