Should anybody need them, I have some stock of NOS 998-1098 cam bearings in -.010" and -.020" journal sizes.
New in BMC boxes.
Price AUS$50/set, + postage. AFAIK, these undersize ones are NLA now.

Make sure that they are fitted correctly, you don't want a rocker cover full of oil. :)

I can measure 1275 bearings if it helps.

Full circle bearings are easier to fit than the cut edge ones. The latter are easily damaged during assembly.
I take mine to my local engine builder (Graham Russell), he has the correct mandrels to fit them.

No worries - I got them all out. 1 1/4", 1 1/2" and 1 3/4". The threaded rod worked great with the right size fender washers but I had to get a bit medieval on the back one to start it moving. Yes it is a small bore (MG1100) motor.
I also took a micrometer to my mains and big end bearings and all are in spec for +020".
Time to put the parts orders in. It is a bit of a pain that not all the parts I need are available in one place but at least they are available
Thanks for your help,
Steve

I have rigged up a decent pull/push tool to get them out but my problem is finding the correct sized washers/sockets to fit over the bearing. Any idea what the sizes are?

Hi Steve,
It's possible to MacGyver up some cam bearing pullers with all-thread, sockets, washers, chunks of tailpipe tubing, etc. And I've done this with success. Seriously, I made my pullers on my lathe...
But if you have a local machine shop, call them for a quote first. Much less pain to haul the block to them with the new bearings and camshaft, have them do the work and be done with it.
BTW, kudos to you for diving in and doing your motor and gearbox!

One of my cam bearings looked worn so I decided to replace the three of them. I did manage to get the center one out with a lot of applied violence which destroyed the bearing but left the housing unmarked. Is there a special tool for bearing removal or is it destruction? I plan to press the new ones in using a steel plate and handy harmonic balancer removal tool after freezing the new shells overnight.
I have not yet ordered the bearings - any comment on full circle Vs. the "open" type
Many thanks for your help
