I'm so glad I'm here!  Thanks for that info and I'm sure one state's rules can be dramatically different than another.

GB

That is a late 1990s German market limited edition (1997 or newer) and is utterly illegal in all 50 States.

Changing the VIN plate (and hopefully chopping out the stamped VIN numbers) just means that the VIN number is from 1967...

It's also about $14,000 too expensive.

Its NOT just an engine change it's the whole 90's car wrapped around a 67 VIN plate! Take a look at some genuine 67 vintage mini's note the external door hinges and the bare bones interiors, 10in wheels, small rear tail lights....................................
There are a whole host of legal problems for anybody buying that car. Was the 90's car stolen in another country and VIN swopped before import? There could be a VIN stamped into the bonnet lip of that car which will show it's original identity and then you have a car with two VIN numbers not a good situation...............................

The engine swap was revealed and I'm okay with that.  I like the idea of having fuel injection.

Thanks for the advise.  It's on E-Bay (item #162318566828).  Looked at it yesterday.  Zero rust and original paint according to seller.

If you can get pictures and post them here, or include an internet link, the guys on here would certainly be able to help.  It definitely helps when the seller is willing to offer their knowledge of anything wrong with the car.

Make sure it is what it is reported to be. Many many VIN swops around. Check for rust everywhere the mini will rust just about everywhere! Other than that it's the same as any used car. Your best bet is to take a mini expert or at least someone with some mini knowledge. Last post pictures here for a 2nd opinion
