First you will need a engine. Of course you did not fill out your profile so we have no way of telling where you are located. I just happened to have picked up a 70 MG Midget a couple of years back. A kid was going to take his mothers car apart and put a clutch in. Got some of it apart and lost interest. I bought it to save from a trip to the crusher. I'm in Hampton VA. 23661. I will sell the whole package. Steve (CTR)

PS can also throw in a early side curtian Sprite I picked up for parts and to get the lower half of the rear fenders as before rubber bumpers.

You would think by now with the number of times this has been discussed Don/Dennis would have addressed it and made it mandatory when registering. Oh and for Zippy where are the roll eyes when you need them.

Puts pressure on the thrust washers which wears them out.

I assume its got a single Stromberg Carb as well?... Those 1500's are known for slinging rods. Thrust washers wear out and the crank gets pushed forward. If you buy another block make sure to try and wiggle the crank forward and backward to check for play. Also when you get it all put back together, make sure you don't hold the clutch in at stops.

Question: What's it like driving a mini?

My Answer: Like riding around on an angry leaf blower.

Is it an MG midget? If so you have the 1500 engine used in the Triumph Spitfire, not an A-Series as used by the earlier cars and not a B-Series like used in the MGB

I baught a 1978 mg andf the motor slung a rod. I tore it down to access the damage which was pretty bad. So I began to research possibly buying a long block, but as it turns out my engine does not look like any of the mg engines that i am seeing out there for sale. I am now at a stand still with this project. I need some one to tell what motor I have or point me in the right direction to figure out this issue. 2 things I noticed on my setup....1: there is no thermastat port on my head and 2: my carb and exhaust manifold are located on the passenger side. All the other mg's I have looked at have the tstat on the head and exhaust and carb is on the drivers side of the motor. If anyone can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate! Thanks. also i attached pics of the head and the block where the number plate should be but no longer is. There is a nuber stamped on it but does not match the mg numbers.
